The New City Generals are deeply saddened by the loss of Larisa Alexandra Karissik. Larisa was an 8th grader at Felix Festa Middle School who was tragically killed in a car accident over the weekend in upstate N.Y.

On Saturday, May 23, 2015, there was a tragic car accident involving the Karassik Family, which resulted in the devastating and unexpected loss of their beautiful daughter, Larisa, age 13. Her father Bruce was also critically injured in the accident.

Larisa was a beautiful young girl whose smile could light up any room.  She was an extraordinary girl who volunteered for her church and she never passed up an opportunity to volunteer for the community of Clarkstown.

Larisa loved sports.  She played softball in the New City Little League, basketball for St. Francis CYO and had also played soccer for the Clarkstown Soccer Club.

The following memorial services for

Larisa Alexandra Karassik are open to the public

Viewing

  • Wednesday, May 27, 2015
    Saint Sergius Church
104 Lake Road, Valley Cottage, New York

  • The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, at St. Sergius, with burial to follow at the Russian Orthodox Convent Novo-Diveevo Church Cemetery in Nanuet

If you would like to help, friends have set up a gofundme page for the family during this time. This fund is one way in which friends, family and the Community can help support the Karrassik family, which include Larisa’s mother and father, Anastasia & Bruce as well

Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.

DAN BELL MEAL TRAIN

PLEASE CLICK HERE

OR

VISIT THE DAN BELL PAGE LOCATED ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF OUR WEBSITE

Dan Bell is one of the founders of the New City Generals and has been a Manager/Coach of the (current) 14U Blue team since it's inception as a 9U team in 2010. Josh, Dan's son, has played on the team since the beginning and, outside of some players who have left and returned to the team, is one of only two remaining players from the original 9U team.

Last year, Dan was diagnosed with cancer and temporarily stepped away from the team to focus on his health. Since that time he has had successful surgery to remove the tumor and is currently undergoing chemotherapy which is almost halfway done. We are looking forward to the day when Dan finally has this nasty disease beaten and is back on the field with Josh and the other boys later this spring.

Unfortunately, due to Dan's illness, the Bell family has fallen on difficult times. Dan is self-employed and has been unable to work resulting in recent financial struggles.  As friends, community members or teammates, we would like to help the family in any way possible.

There has been a Meal Train started in Dan's name where families can sign up to deliver a meal to the Bell home on various days of the week.

https://www.mealtrain.com/invitation/Default.aspx?id=mlcd9vybxa6t

This helps by both providing a no cost meal and also by alleviating the stress related with having to shop and prepare meals on the days when Dan is going through Chemo and his wife is working. Meal Train will send a confirmation email with instructions on how to participate.

In addition, family friend, Wayne Meda will be collecting donations from anyone that would like to contribute. Donations can be made in the form of gift cards to a local supermarket, restaurant or even in cash if the family suggests that would be most helpful , 100% of what is collected will go straight the Bell family. If you would also like to make a donation to pass along to the Bell's or have any questions, please email us at info@newcitybaseball.com

Thank you in advance for your support!

10U BLUE IS GOIN TO DISNEYWORLD!

Disney - here we come!

10u Blue.... you just won the USSSA New England Super NIT Tournament.. what are you going to do next???  -- They are going to Disneyworld!!

Congratulations to the 10U Blue Team on winning the nationally ranked USSSA New England Super NIT Tournament in Connecticut. The team went 5-0 over the weekend and was ranked as the number 1 seed overall. It was a great weekend for the boys as they had big hits including a game winner in pool play and situational hitting which led to 53 runs scored. Team pitching and defense was very good as well as they executed pick offs and great relays, leading to throwing out runners out and some spectacular defensive plays. This was a true team win weekend as every player contributed.

As a result, the team earned a bid to the USSSA Elite World Series in DisneyWorld. This event is the top 32 teams from the United States and is such a great honor!

We are so proud of all the boys!

12u Blue in Cooperstown

Its 12:45am... Do you know where 12u Blue is?? They are celebrating their 3rd win of the day and 4th in a row!

Congratulations to the 12u Blue team who finished with a winning record of 4-2 in pool play (4-3 overall) at Cooperstown Dreams Park. The team had to play 7 games over the span of 48 hours due to weather against teams from NJ, WI, MA, VA, NC, FL and RI. After losing the first 2 games, they won 4 straight (3 in one day with the last one ending at 12:30 am) to secure the 39th seed out of 104 teams, showing a lot of heart and perseverance! This team not only played   well on the field but more importantly became a family off the field. This experience is something that these boys will remember for the rest of their lives.. We are so proud of what this team and what they have accomplished this year!

Also a huge congratulations to John Finnen who made it to the top 5 in the "King of Swat" and Justin Aurecchione who made it to the final 8 in the "Golden Arm" skills competition! Both competed against 103 other players!

Great job Generals!
